Susan Chilcoat Curtis of Seminole, Florida (previously Baton Rouge, LA) passed away peacefully in her home on November 6, 2022. Susan made her home in Baton Rouge for over 30 years, from 1989 to 2021. She was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on July 5, 1946 (a firecracker that popped a day late). Susan grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma State University, where she met the love of her life, Evan. They married in Tulsa, OK on June 6, 1970 and were happily married for nearly 50 years before Evan passed away on April 13, 2020. They lived in Odessa, TX and Dallas, TX before moving to Baton Rouge. Both Evan and Susan have been laid to rest at a Memorial Garden at Resthaven in Baton Rouge.
In addition to her beloved husband, Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Edna Chilcoat and her brother, Brown Chilcoat. Susan is survived by her son, Andy; granddaughter, Kendall; and daughter-in-law, Chrissy. A Celebration of Life for both Evan and Susan will be held on Saturday, March 25 between 2 to 5 pm at City Café, 4710 O’Neal Lane, Baton Rouge. Those that knew them are invited to stop by and share a story or memory. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to a local library. Evan and Susan were lovers of books and reading.
