A retired trooper with the Louisiana State Police, he died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 76, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Hammond. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, June 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes in the funeral home chapel on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosie L. and Howard Chaney and Bonnie L. and Sal Granata; two sons, Ben W. Ledell and Ken S. Ledell; former wife, Leona Ledell; sister, Monita Ann Hill and husband Howard; four grandchildren, Stephanie Alkadi and husband Jay, Brandie Gilchrist and husband Bryan, Mindy Ledell and Stephen Ledell; and four great-grandchildren, Rami, Rana, J.C. and Leilah Alkadi. Preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Iris Ledell. He was a member of Brookstown Baptist Church and the Louisiana State Police Troopers Association.
