Our precious Sterling earned his angel wings and flew to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 17, 2011. He was 63, born April 12, 1948, in Natchez, Miss. Sterling was a very beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many. He earned his degree in chemistry from the University of Southern Mississippi. During the years, he was employed in Saudi Arabia as well as the United States. He retired from Baker Petrolite in March 2002. He is survived by his adoring wife of 21 years, Kay Blanchard Brown, of Baton Rouge. Also survived by a son, Sterling Sonny Newton Brown III, of Jena two daughters, Elizabeth Michelle Lisa Brown, of Galveston, Texas, and Dominique Nichole Nikky Brown Testerman, of Baltimore and grandson, Sterling Newton Brown IV, stationed in the Army in Kansas. Sterling had a tremendous love of financial planning, genealogy, history and his special little buddy, Bailey Bob Brown, and many very special friends. Preceded in death by a daughter, Danielle Therese Brown his parents, Sterling N. Brown Sr. and Opal Shaifer Brown, who were of Jena maternal grandparents, William Wesley Shaifer and Lottie Marie Taylor, of Jena and paternal grandparents, William Levander Brown and Florence Hattie Cole. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Monday, April 18, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting will resume at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd., on Tuesday, April 19 from 12pm until service at 1:30pm. Burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Donations may be made to the Lymphoma Society or St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
