Stephen Johnson

Dr. Stephen Monroe Johnson, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at the age of 73. He was born on Saturday, July 16, 1949, in Columbus, Georgia, son of the late Nolan and Dorothy Johnson. 

Stephen earned his PhD in Church History from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA, as well as a Master’s degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, TX, and proudly served our country in the United States Army. A devout Christian, Stephen dedicated many years working as a Minister until his retirement, and was an active member of Community Bible Church. Stephen enjoyed politics, technology, church history, music, and playing word games. He also loved his pets, always having a soft spot for animals, and he could often be found fishing, cheering on the Houston Astros, or expanding his RC Cola memorabilia collection. A loving husband and father, Stephen will be deeply missed, and will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Meredith V. Johnson, daughter Lindsey E. Johnson, and son Matthew S. Johnson. He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Nolan L. Johnson and Dorothy K. Johnson, and brother Nolan “Butch” Johnson. 

The family would like to give special thanks to Community Bible Church, Woodlake Neighborhood Homeowner’s Association, as well as family and friends for all of their support during this difficult time.

Visiting hours will take place at Community Bible Church on April 11, 2023 from 9:00am - 11:00am with a Celebration of Life following from 11:00am - 12:30pm officiated by Pastor Steve Foster.
