Stanley Carpenter

August 29, 1937 — August 20, 2013

Stanley B. Carpenter, 75, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA for 22 years and a native of Searcy, AR. He proudly served in the United States Army as a 1st LT. USAR Artillery Officer in Fort Hood, TX. Stanley earned a BS degree at the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID, a MS degree at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, and a Ph.D. at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. He retired as Director of Forestry Wildlife and Fisheries at LSU. Stanley was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Baton Rouge and a longtime member of St. John United Methodist Church for 20 years. He was a proud and loving owner of many great dogs. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jane Carpenter two sons, David Stanley Carpenter and wife Michele, and Carl Barton Carpenter and wife Wretha and grandchildren, Jeb Carpenter, Andrew and Jacob Ball. Preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Jennings and Sarah Carpenter. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 5 pm until 8 pm and will resume at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 9375 Highland Rd., on Friday, August 23, 2013 from 8:30 am until funeral service at 10 am conducted by Pastor Juan Huertas and Stans son, the Rev.
