Stacy Sharpe

June 3, 1968 — January 20, 2025

Prairieville

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Stacy Sharpe, at the youthful age of fifty-six. Stacy was a bright light in our lives, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her and worked with her. She brought joy and love to everyone around her. Stacy loved the Lord and often showed her kindness and compassion to others. She was known for her pleasant personality and her fun-loving spirit, which touched the lives of many.

Stacy was born on June 3, 1968, in Bogalusa, Louisiana.  She arrived at her eternal home in heaven on Monday, January 20, 2025. She was the daughter of Teri Ledet Duff and her father by adoption, Don Duff. Stacy was married to Craig Melancon on January 20, 2023.

Stacy was in the first graduating class of Parkview Baptist School in 1986. She was a member of the Dance Team and many other activities at her high school. She was also very active in planning and participating in the Youth Group activities at Parkview Baptist Church led by Rev. Rick and Cindy Edmonds. Stacy graduated from Louisiana State University in 1990. While attending college she began working for the Louisiana Legislative Fiscal Office.

After graduation from LSU, Stacy continued working for the Louisiana Legislative Fiscal Office until 1992 as an Administrative Assistant. Subsequently, she worked as Confidential Assistant for the Joint Legislative Budget Committee under senator B.B. “Sixty” Rayburn until 1996. She was then appointed the Assistant Director of Constituent Services for Governor Foster from 1996 until 1997. In 1997, Stacy was appointed the Personal Assistant for Fox McKeithen, Secretary of State in Louisiana, from 1997 to 2007. While acting as Personal Assistant, Stacy was appointed the Director of Marketing for a couple of years, the Deputy Secretary/Director of First Stop Shop for approximately three years. Then in 2002, Stacy was appointed State Museum Coordinator in Louisiana for the Secretary of State’s office until 2007. She then began working as Assistant to the Secretary for the Louisiana State Mineral Board until 2011. Stacy was then appointed Executive Management Officer for Troy Hebert in the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control for several years. After a brief time at the Louisiana Real Estate Commission, Stacy began working at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in 2019, as their Medical Records Coordinator and Receptionist. She retired from her career with the State of Louisiana in 2023, after 32 years of service with various agencies of the State.

Stacy is survived by her husband, her loving family, including her parents, her brother Christopher Duff, his wife Jennifer Duff and their children, Carter and Olivia Duff, who she treated as her own children. Stacy was also very close to her uncle’s children, Sherry Ledet Marks and husband Rob Marks, their children Caroline and Brennan, and her uncle’s son Matthew Ledet; and her aunts Sharon Ledet and Beverly Ledet. Stacy is also survived by her cousins Paul and Pam Farmer, Bart and Rachel Farmer, along with in-laws Roger, Sr. and Helen Melancon, stepson Christopher Melancon and many other relatives and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Stacy was preceded in death by her father, Henry Sharpe, her brother Jason Welford Duff, her uncle Charles Ledet, her grandparents, F. C. and Mable Ledet, Lorance and Opal Sharpe and many other relatives of the Sharpe and Ledet families.

Although Stacy’s joyful physical presence no longer provides comfort and happiness to her family and friends, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those she knew. Her memory will be a blessing and will encourage us to continue her love and compassion for others. We know that Stacy is now visiting with her heavenly family and friends who preceded her, while being comforted and enlightened by the Lord Jesus Christ and his host of angels.
