Sondra Babin Young, resident of Baton Rouge, died in her home on December 4th 2013 after a 6 and a half year battle with ovarian cancer. Sondras life was filled with blessing but she will be remembered for the blessing she was to so many others. Selfless in her acts of kindness and possessing keen judgment, she has humbly and gently guided friends and loved ones in their times of need. Her resilience and courage provided solace and strength. She was a lifelong learner always seeking to learn something new and striving to make the most of every experience. She most enjoyed collecting antique glass, genealogy, gardening, and cooking. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Samuel Sam Leslie Young, Jr, her daughters and soninlaw, Lisa and Allen Wainwright, Tracy Young, and Ashley Young, and her two grandchildren Morgan and Luke Wainwright. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Paul and Ophelia Loupe Babin, Sr. We give our most sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Giles Fort and his staff and for the compassion of the oncology nurses at Womans Hospital, and to the many friends and family who have kept us in your prayers throughout the years. You have touched our hearts. The visitation will be held at Resthaven Garden of Memories on Friday Dec 6, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the rosary at 8:30 am on Saturday morning and continues until the right of Christian Burial Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. A private burial will be held later.
