Simi Jaisinghani, age 62, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on April 8, 2017 at the Jaisinghani family residence in Baton Rouge.
Simi was born as Veena Israni in Bombay, India and migrated to the United States in 1978 after receiving her Bachelor of Sciences from Jai Hind College in Bombay in 1976 and marrying her husband, Kailash Jaisinghani, in 1978. Upon arriving in Baton Rouge, Simi held various positions with U.S. federal and state agencies before retiring to serve her community. Simi was active in the Indian-American community in both Baton Rouge and New Orleans, most notably serving as President of the Hindu Samaj of Baton Rouge for four years.
Simi is survived by her husband Kailash Jaisinghani, her son Sumeet Jaisinghani and his wife Nili Jaisinghani, her sisters Ranie Dansingani, Priya Mahbubani, Dhanu Ramchandani, her brother Rajesh Israni and her mother Indra Israni.
She is preceded in death by her father Jaikishin Israni.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on April 10, 2017 from 4:00pm until services at 5:00pm. Cremation will follow at 5:45pm for immediate family only. Bhajans (prayers) will be held at 6:30pm at the Hindu Samaj of Baton Rouge, followed by a catered dinner.
Pallbearers will be Sumeet Jaisinghani, Kailash Jaisinghani, Rajesh Israni and Dr. Bharat Sangani.
The Jaisinghani family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Bharat Sangani, her tireless physician and father-in-law to Sumeet, along with Emily Baldwin and Jessica Lomas.
