A retired employee of Ethyl Corp., he died at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 86 and a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Monday, Aug. 17, from 2 p.m. until chapel service at 3:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Tom Ranzino. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Louise Porter; three sisters, Ellen Dunaway, Mary Ann Allman and Betty Crouch; a brother, Charles Porter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel and Cecile Porter; and stepfather, William Cotton. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are Jeffery Dunaway, Jim Carter, Revel Porter, Larry Perkins, Tom Ranzino, David Barbay, Dennis Cacioppo, Paul Cacioppo and Cecil Ranzino Jr. The family would like to thank caregivers Dolores, Geraldine, Kim and Leslie, for the care given to Mr. Porter during his illness.
