Shonta Smith

Shonta Charmaine Smith, a resident of Zachary, LA, passed away on May 26, 2020 at the age of 43.

Shonta was a graduate of the University of Arkansas Little Rock. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management Information Systems. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She was also a member of Fellowship Church in Zachary, was very involved with the Church Chicks ministry and volunteered with the youth ministry. Shonta volunteered as a substitute teacher for the Zachary Community School District.  She also found a love for teaching English to children in China with VIP Kids. She loved to spend time with family and friends. She was a loving person whose affection and compassion for others was contagious. During her battle with cancer, Shonta blessed and positively impacted so many people through her strong faith and willingness to give of herself to others.

Shonta is survived by her husband of 13 years, Darnell Smith; her son, Brandon Smith; her two brothers, Bryan and Andre-Paul; several close aunts, uncles, and extended family. Shonta also had 5 godchildren; Mia Grace, Makaila Addison, Shannon Allyse, Andrew William and Winston Darnell.

Private graveside services will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home.
