Shirley Bourg Young

Shirley Bourg Young of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on November 19, 2023, at the age of 89 years. She was a dedicated, longtime member of St. Thomas More and St. Gerard Catholic Church. She loved to garden, collect pink milk and carnival glass, sew, cook, and read. She and her husband of 31 years, Richard Young, enjoyed taking trips to the beach multiple times a year. Shirley was a mother to many a child, never turning away a young person who needed a little extra love. She was a natural nurturer, with a warm and calm personality.

Shirley is preceded in death by her first husband, Ned Bourg, and her parents, Mary Delta Blanchard and Ferdinand Dupepe.

Shirley is survived by her husband Richard Young; daughters, Roxane Bourg Bowman (Stephen) and J. Cherie Bourg; son, Chet G. Bourg (Marilyn); stepson, Jerry Young; grandchildren Stephanie Brown, Allison Beck, and Corinne Southern; and step-grandchildren, Brandon Young, Troy L Nelson, Stephanie Nelson, and Jamie Routh Boquet.

A private service and burial were held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home.
