Shirley Simmons

Shirley “June” Simmons passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the age of 90 with her daughter by her side.

June was a devoted wife and Christian who loved her family dearly.  She married her childhood neighbor and best friend on December 27, 1951 and had three beautiful children.  She had two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She loved singing gospel music, fishing, and sewing.  If you couldn’t find her doing any of those, you could always find her in the kitchen making the best hot home cooked meal you have ever eaten.

She is survived by her son, Mark Simmons; daughter, Laura Simmons Guillory and son-in-law Randall Guillory; grandchild, Randall (Keith) Guillory and wife Claire Guillory, great grandchild Cameron Guillory; grandchild, Brandi Patteson and husband Richard Patteson, great-grandchildren Olivia and Brady Patteson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Simmons; her son, James Lee Simmons; parents, John and Stella Wood; brother, Buck Wood; and sisters, Edith Wallace and Betty O’Connor.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. until Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
