Shirley Jean Tillman

Shirley Jean Tillman passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the age of 89, in Georgia surrounded by her loving family.  She was born July 4, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York to Irvin and Clara Brown.  At a young age, she moved to Gardena, California, resided in Hawaii for a short time and ultimately made her home in Baton Rouge.  Jean retired as an administrative engineer with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development after more than 30 years of dedicated employment.  She later resided in Dahlonega, Georgia, near her children, and lived there the remainder of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister Estelle Brown; her grandson Blaine Tillman; her great-grandson, Kayson Tillman; and her lifetime companion of 53 years, Wilton Clement.  Jean is survived by her son Bobby Tillman and his wife Ann; her daughter Sharon Tillman; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her cousin, Fran Denmeade of California; and Wilton’s children Janet Gaar and her husband Mike, and Mark Clement; as well as countless friends and family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.  A Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home beginning at 9:00 a.m.
