Shawn Dowden

Shawn, age 53, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Shawn spent many years working in the floral industry, with the most recent being Hunt’s Flowers. She loved spending time outdoors and working in her flowerbed. She definitely had a “green thumb”. Shawn loved spending time with her family and friends. She was such a caring and loving woman. She was always worried about everyone else besides herself, even in her final moments.

Shawn is survived by her two sons, Joshua P. Johnson & wife Catherine and Blake A. Dowden & wife Jordan; her grandchildren Cade, Stella, Beau & Corinne Dowden. Her brothers Greg Babineaux & wife Kathy, Stephen Babineaux & wife Cathy and Paul Babineaux & wife Brandi. Her sister Jennifer McVey & her husband Charles. Shawn will be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Anthony “Tony” Dowden; father, Richard “Dick” Babineaux; mother, Carol Jean Babineaux; sister, Dina Fine.

To know Shawn was to love her. She will be deeply missed, but we rejoice knowing she is resting in heaven. The family would like to thank nurses Jessica & Jodi for the amazing care they gave Shawn during her final days.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 8:30 am until funeral service at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
