Sharon Landry Tinsley was born in Baton Rouge on July 8, 1942 to Myra McAlister Landry and Leonard Joseph Landry. She passed away peacefully at her home on January 4, 2024. A 1960 graduate of Istrouma High School, Sharon worked for EBR City-Parish for 30 years. More than 20 of those years were spent in the coroner’s office under Hypolite Landry, MD where she formed some of her most cherished life-long friendships.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Buddy” Tinsley, her son Steven Jon Humphries, daughter-in-law Melanie Humphries and brother Myron “Scooter” Landry. She is survived by her children: Michael Humphries, Lauren (Daniel) Martin, Pearl Chancey, Mark Tinsley, Denise Peltier and Jason (Susan) Tinsley; grandchildren Crystal Palermo, Lindsay (Cole) Robin, Rachel (Nic) Waters, Erica Martin, Hannah Martin and Hailey Humphries; siblings Sandra Burge, Sue (Sam) Husser, Shelley (Dean) Navarre and Max (Joannie) Landry and many nieces and nephews that she completely adored.
The oldest of 6 siblings, Sharon served proudly as the matriarch and cornerstone of our family for many decades and we will forever miss her presence, her personality and her humor. Visitation will take place Monday, January 8, 2024 at Resthaven Funeral Home on Jefferson Hwy from 12pm until 2p with a Celebration of Life and burial to follow at 2:00pm. Our family would like to thank Nikka and the entirety of the staff at Pinnacle Home Health Hospice.
