Sean Christopher Viator, cherished son, brother, and friend, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024, at the age of 31. Sean was born on Sunday, July 12, 1992, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Growing up, Sean made friends with all he knew, his genuineness, kindness, and sense of humor, always inspiring those around him. After graduating from St. Michael the Archangel High School, he went on to further his studies at the University of Arizona, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts. Sean then pursued his career as a Professional Dancer and Choreographer, for which he always had a true passion. His genuine love, creative nature, and resilient spirit excelled him to great heights in his career, where he formed many strong bonds and lifelong friendships.
Always the activist, Sean was a passionate affiliate of dance unions, such as SAG-AFTRA, where he always advocated for people’s rights. He was also a member of Bloc Talent Agency, and a proud alumni of De Frances Academy of Dance. Sean had many professional accomplishments. He performed with multiple award-winning artists including Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Sam Smith, and Demi Levato. He danced on numerous awards and TV shows like American Idol and the Billboard Music Awards. Sean lit up the stage with the Radio City Rockettes, performing in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular the past several years. He danced on stage in Vegas for Jubilee at Bally’s and Showstoppers at the Wynn. He also did a charity performance called One Drop, at the Mirage with Cirque du Soleil. Sean shared his love and passion for dance with others as a teacher and choreographer for the Millennium Dance Complex and Broadway Dance Center.
Sean is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Rose Marie Viator, and his maternal grandparents Gordon and Eva Dale Daigle.
He is survived by his father Todd Viator, stepmother Jennifer Viator, mother Celeste Viator, Terry Ingraffia; his sisters Natalie Abshier (Joshua), and Stephanie Sturgeon (Reed); his brother Christopher VanDreumel, his nieces Piper and Penelope Abshier, and his grandfather Kenward Viator.
Sean’s family would like to give a special thanks to the dance community across the country that has embraced and supported Sean throughout his life.
In remembrance of Sean, the family has established a dance scholarship in his name at The University of Arizona School of Dance in Tucson. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to this scholarship in Sean’s honor.
We would like to invite all who knew and loved Sean to join us in a Celebration of Life ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:30 p.m.
We ask all attendees to please feel free to wear your favorite color, so that we may brighten up the room in Sean’s honor.
