Sandra Godail, a native of New Orleans and resident of Baton Rouge since 1966, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2017, after a long an valiant fight with cancer.
She was born to Emile A. Wagner Jr and Dorothy Beth Pritchard Wagner on August 3, 1940. Sandy was known for her youthful and engaging personality, natural flaming red hair, and dazzling blue eyes. She loved tennis and traveling, particularly ocean cruises and road trips to the family gathering spot at Fripp Island, SC. After high school, she attended Barat College, near Chicago for two years before completing work on her bachelor's degree in chemistry at LSU. Additionally, Sandra completed the required courses and was a certified notary public. Her career as a professional abstractor began in 1979 and led to forming an abstracting company, Abstracts by Godail Inc., for which she served as president. In 1996 she sold the company, but continued to manage it until 2000, at which time she retired. Shortly afterward she formed a new abstracting company, which she managed until retiring for a second time in 2012 for health reasons.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her daughter, Karen Godail Arena.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Milton J "Bing" Godail of Baton Rouge; her sons, Milton J "Jimmy" Godail and his wife Peggy and their two sons, Andrew and Jacob of Spring, TX; Stephen S Godail and his wife Sonia, their son Benjamin and daughter Kaylin of Baton Rouge and son-in-law David Arena and his two sons, Justin and Jason of River Ridge, LA.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, on Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 11:30 am until funeral services at 1:30 pm. Officiated by Father Phil Spano. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
