Sandra Jean Bruce, 75 of Baton Rouge passed away peacefully at her home in Baton Rouge on October 17, 2021. Sandra was born in Baton Rouge to Evan Jackson and Rose Culotta Oakley on March 9, 1946.
Sandra graduated from Baton Rouge High School and attended LSU for 2 years. She worked as a legal secretary for Don Bradford and Kean Miller Attorneys. Sandra was a faithful Catholic, loving wife of 53 years, mother, and grandmother of 3.
Sandra loved going to LSU baseball games, but more than that she loved watching her grandchildren play softball and baseball.
Sandra defeated many odds due to her Spina Bifida. She was the rock to her family; she was their hero.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Evan Jackson and Rose Culotta Oakley, Beau Boiteaux (nephew), grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Lillard Bruce; children, Amy Crochet (Shane), Ann Bercegeay (Pete); grandchildren, Hunter Crochet, Gracie Bercegeay, and Lanie Bercegeay; sisters, Kathy Boiteaux, and Jackie Boudinot; and brother, Mark Oakley.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Crochet, Evan Boiteaux, Shane Crochet, Pete Bercegeay, Shawn Bruce, and Tyler Bruce.
Visitation will be 5pm – 8pm, Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church from 9am until Mass at 10 am with Father Jon Kochler officiating. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Dr. Allen Joseph, Dr. Flynn Thomas, Victoria Faucheaux, Brenda Daniel, Sharelle Holmes, and the staff at Hospice of Baton Rouge.
