Samuel "Sammy" Angelo Salvato, age 63, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.
Sammy was an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Deputy with over 30 years of service. He received a call, sort of an offer he couldn't refuse; an assignment from God that came with a huge sign on bonus; a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in quite some time and the opportunity to continue his service as a police officer able to watch over and protect his loved ones each and every day. Job security is guaranteed 110[[][%]]. This new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be able to continue all the things he loved to do: fishing, hunting, telling jokes and stories, making people laugh, and spreading the joy of his infectious smile. Job Bonus: food is delicious here. He will be able to eat all his favorites and as much as he wants to. Plus, cell phone service is free, so he can make even more phone calls than he did before.
Sammy is survived by his wife, Wanda Causey Salvato; daughter, Rachel Elise Salvato and her boyfriend, Scott Guidry; son, Samuel Lucas Salvato; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Karen Salvato, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Mary Causey; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Julia Guarisco Salvato; sister, Maria "Tata" Salvato Landry and his brother, Joseph "Butch" Salvato.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 10:00 am until funeral service at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
