A retired political consultant and lobbyist, he died at 12:59 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 75, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Jonesboro. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Sunday, Oct. 30, from 10:30 a.m. until service at 2 p.m., conducted by Rabbi Jordan Goldson. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Wanda Edwards two daughters, Susan Roby and Janet Smith son, Samuel Roby Jr. three stepsons, Brian Eastep and wife Tara, Jeremy Eastep and wife Natasha, and Brandon Eastep and wife Lynn sister, Naomi Belisle brother, Andrew Roby four grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Max and Dula Mae Roby. He was a member of Congregation BNai Israel Synagogue. Memorial donations can be made to your charity of choice. Honorary pallbearers are E.L. Bubba Henry, Marion Edwards, Woody McDonald, Bob Patterson and Sonny Paxton.
