Ruth Corbin

Ruth Lucille Hales Corbin, a resident of Gonzales, joined her Lord and Savior face to face on March 1, 2017. She was born on May 25, 1934, in Belzoni, Mississippi.

She was a homemaker in her earlier years, and in retail sales later in life including a boat salesperson for Bonfanti Marine. In addition, she owned an antique shop in the early 1970s. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing, antiquing, and traveling in their motorhome. Through the many physical challenges she faced in life, her strength and positive outlook were admired by many. She always had a sense of humor with family and caregivers. She will be truly missed.

She is survived by daughters, Linda Strickland (Larry), Billie Tripp (Terry), Dorothy Simmons (David); six grandchildren, Kelley Bourque (Boyd), J.J. Baker (Jenny), Travis Baker (Amanda), Derek Townsend, Travis Tripp (Debbie), and Daniene Guichard (Rudy); and ten great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Corbin, Sr.; her son, Billy Ray Corbin, Jr.; a granddaughter, Kimberly Corbin Baker; her father, Thomas Hales; her mother, Dorothy Lee Dodd Hales Strong; and stepfather, Sherwood L. Strong; two sisters, Hazel Sanders and Frances Moore; and one brother, T.W. Hales.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff of Ascension Oaks Nursing Home and to Hospice of Baton Rouge.

Funeral services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA 70816, on Saturday, March 4. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 3:00 with funeral services following at 3:00.

Pallbearers will be Larry Strickland, Terry Tripp, David Simmons, J. J. Baker, Travis Baker, and Derek Townsend.
