Rusyl Wooley

Rusyl Jonathan Wooley, age 52, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday October 7, 2018.

Rusyl was born on July 9, 1965 to Shirley Jane and Lynn Wooley of Dallas, Texas. He was raised in Burlington, MA and graduated from UMass Lowell. He was very active in sports including football, lacrosse, and gymnastics. In his later years, Rusyl accomplished the rank of third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Rusyl had three children, Michael Jonathan, Amy Janilyn, and Thomas Reagan. They were all the pride and joy of his life. He was also recently blessed with the birth of his first grandchild, Eliza Jane.

Rusyl was married to Jennie Murdock in 2012 and Thomas was born in 2013. They enjoyed ballroom dancing and travelling including a recent family trip to Scotland.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael.

He is survived by his parents, Jane & Lynn Wooley of Baton Rouge, LA, his wife, Jennie, of Baton Rouge, LA, his brother, David (Stephanie) Wooley of Duxbury, MA, his daughter Amy (Jeff) Bertleff of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Thomas Wooley of Baton Rouge, LA, and step-children, Dylan McConkey & Teagan McConkey of Baton Rouge, LA.

Rusyl's service will be held on Thursday at The Church International Baton Rouge, 2037 Quail Drive, Baton Rouge, LA. Viewing will be from 9am-11am, service at 11am and the internment will be at 1:30 pm at Grace Memorial in Plaquemine, LA.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to the Broken Chains Ministry at The Church International Baton Rouge.
