Russell L. Payne

Russell Lindsey Payne, born August 29,1940, passed away on February 5, 2024, at the age of 83. Russell was born here in Baton Rouge, LA and graduated from LSU in 1963. Before becoming an accountant, he served as a Captain in the US Air Force. Russell was a proud member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and enjoyed attending LSU football and baseball games, as well as watching NASCAR races. But most of all, he was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Russell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Evans Payne; sons, Tommy (Sandy) Payne and Kevin (Stacey) Payne; along with his grandchildren, Kristen, Ashley, Caroline, and Scott Payne.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents, Thomas William and Ernstine LeRay Payne.

Visitation for Russell will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Thursday, February 8, 2024, beginning at 9:00 AM with services at 11 AM. Burial to follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Our Lady of the Lake as well as his physical therapist, Jessica Schexnayder.
