Rufus Randolph Price, Jr. will forever be remembered by his family and friends for his remarkable kindness, generous spirit and hardworking ethic. After almost 91 years, he died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, leaving his loving wife and partner of 67 years, Violet Reynolds Price and his two sons and their families, Randy Price and Mark Steffen of Kittery Point, Maine, and Gary and Emma Price of Richmond, Virginia. As a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, he returned home after serving in World War II as a US Navy Seabee and began a long career with the Ethyl Corporation. Upon retirement, he enjoyed many years going to their fishing camp at Belle River, doing work for his church, travelling with his wife, family and friends and working on endless home improvement projects for his appreciative sons. And, when he wasnt working on projects, he was dancing and doing aerobic workouts with his wife until almost the end of his life. Rufus was most proud of his many years as one of the original members of the Baton Rouge American Legion Honor Guard, which provides tribute at military funerals. Rufus was a longtime member of Church of the Way Presbyterian and was also a member at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by his six sisters and their spouses, Ruby and Harry Reeves, Alma Louise Pat and Clifton Caillouet, Marie and James McNeill, Lucille and Everett Bennett, Willie and Edward Harrison, Sarah and John Thomas, and Joyce and J. B. McCulloch. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 9 am until funeral service at 11 am. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
