Rudy Lin Landry, husband of Mary Carroll Landry, died October 11, 2018 at his home in Baton Rouge, LA. Born January 9, 1933 in Vinton, LA, the son of the late Elna Bonin and Lindsey Joseph Landry. He attended McNeese State University majoring in Music. After serving in the US Army he attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA, where he was a member of the football and track teams, played trumpet in the Demonaire band and received his B.A. and M.A. degrees. After coaching & teaching for several years at Marion High School in Lake Charles and Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge he returned to Northwestern State University to the North Louisiana Supplementary Education Center as Coordinator of Outdoor Education. He then served as Adult Education Supervisor in the Rapides Parish School System before he became the Head of Health & Physical Education for the Louisiana State Department of Education and later as Coordinator of Drug and Alcohol Education. He left education to start a career in sales. He worked for Zellers & Associates, Lockwood International, NIBCO, and ESLON before starting his own company Southern Industrial Marketing in 1994. He lived in Baton Rouge, LA for 38 years where he was a member of the Shenandoah Country Club, Tiger Gridiron Club, Krewe Mystique serving as President, Vice President, Board Member and as the 2001 Ball Captain. He was especially proud to be a member of the Pete Fountain Half Fast Walking Club and served as a member of the Board. He was an avid LSU Fan and tailgated for many years before he founded a group known as the Housegaters, friends that tailgate at members’ homes. He loved his family, friends, music and especially parties. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary, children Rudy, Jr. (Tres’), Steve (Leslie), Brian (Mindy) and Kelli Landry Bardner (Tom); his grandchildren Mason, Haley, Mimi, Sam, Sara, Elise, Chase (Mallory), Allison, Maximo and Benito; great grandchildren Lenore and Beau, siblings Mary Mahaffey, Erleen Moreno, Elizabeth “Bebe” George, David Landry (Mary Ann), and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His sister Eileen Morgan predeceased him. Services at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 15615 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70817. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 15, with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, 4950 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, American Cancer Association or a charity of your choice. Pallbearers will be Rudy Landry, Jr., Steve Landry, Brian Landry, David Landry, Chase Landry, Mason Landry, Max Bardner, Benito Bardner, Tom Bardner, & Mike Townsend.
