A beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at age 60. He was a graduate of Catholic High School and LSU with a master's degree in library science. He retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish Library and was a former longtime employee of The Advocate. Roy was past president and performer with the Gilbert Sullivan Society and also performed with the Baton Rouge Symphony Chorus, Baton Rouge Little Theater and Baker Little Theater. He was a former member of St. George choir and St. Vincent de Paul Society, often volunteering to help or entertain others. His generous spirit was also extended to giving shelter to the homeless. Preceded in death by his parents, Roy A. Dardenne Sr. and Rita Babin Dardenne. Survived by his sons, Michael and Scott Dardenne; daughter-in-law, Lucy Dardenne; and grandchildren, Angela, Melissa and Adaire Dardenne. Also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Claire and Eddie Michel and Bet- ty and Steve Backstrom; brother and sister-in-law, John and Sharon Dardenne; sister, Martha Dardenne; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Drive, off Siegen Lane at I-10, on Wednesday, Jan. 2, from 9:30 a.m. until funeral Mass at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael J. Schatzle, celebrant. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
