Roselyn Haas Herrington, 94, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her sons, on Thursday, August 24th. She was born in Madisonville, LA, in 1922.
Rose was as humble as her name suggests, and always brought a calming influence to any situation. Her quiet wit was often missed by others, but Rose was a sweet lady with a great sense of humor until her last day. She was a life-long member of Istrouma Baptist Church where she worshipped just last Sunday. Our Lord has no doubt welcomed her into His Kingdom. She was very proud of the business she started with her husband, James B. Herrington. Rose supported him in leaving the gravel truck business and they opened a new venture, Jim's Wheel Alignment, in 1948, and continued working there up until the age of 93, which is a span of 68 years! She will be missed by family, friends, and the many customers over the years who knew her. Her legacy lives on and the business remains in the family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James B. Herrington; her parents, John and Rosa; and her oldest son, James "Jimmy" B. Herrington, Jr.
She is survived by her two sons, Mike and Robert Herrington and their spouses, Gwen and Laurel; and her daughter-in-law, Sandee Herrington. She had six grandchildren, Michael and Todd Herrington, and their spouses Amy and Abbey, Robin Herrington, Blair Herrington Napolitano and her husband Anthony, Ashley Herrington Montgomery, and Jackie Irvine. Rose was also blessed to have loved nine great-grandchildren who will forever remember her, Reagan, Olivia, Jack, and Grant Herrington, and Carter, Charlotte "Charlie", James Napolitano, and Rachel and Sage Irvine.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 12:00pm until funeral service at 2:00pm. Burial will immediately follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
A very special thank you is owed to her caregiver, Betty Mathews. Betty has a loving spirit and was devoted to being a true friend and companion to Rose.
In lieu of flowers please consider a charitable donation to Istrouma Baptist Church, 10500 Sam Rushing Rd, Baton Rouge, LA, 70816.
