Gone to rest in peace ... Mrs. Rose Mae Benoit Simar, 82, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Landmark of Baton Rouge at 9:20 p.m. She was born Dec. 13, 1928, to Leon Benoit and Emelise Castille Benoit, of Leonville. After completing cosmetology school, she opened Roses Beauty Shop in Opelousas. For 53 years, she served and catered to many clients, whom she considered dear and close friends. She always selflessly went out of her way to help others in need. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Baton Rouge and Catholic Daughters at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Leon C. Simar Sr. four children, Emelise Simar Cormier and husband Glen, Rita Simar Becnel and husband Gerard, Leon C. Simar Jr. and wife Christine, and Roselle Simar Foote and husband Marcus. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Kevin, Jacob and Corinne Cormier, Sister Heidi Becnel of the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, Anson, Kurt and Kyle Becnel, Shelby and Benjamin Simar, Viviana and Georgia Foote a sister, Rena Benoit Lalonde, of Arnaudville six nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents a sister, Irene Benoit Bass a brother, Jesse Leon Benoit, who was of Port Arthur, Texas and two grandchildren, Samuel and Isabella Foote. Visiting at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, on Monday, Aug. 1, from 9 a.m. until Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Jerry Martin. Graveside service to follow at 1 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Park, Opelousas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to St. Vincent de Paul, P.O.
