Rosalind Antoinette Tridico Tuminello of Baton Rouge, beloved mother, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021.
She was born in Baton Rouge on April 11,1939, to Juanita Attuso Tridico and Louis Peter Tridico, both of Baton Rouge.
Roz was a graduate of St. Anthony High School in Baton Rouge and was a regular attendee at the school’s annual Mother-Daughter Alumni Dinner.
She was a kind, warm and generous person with a big heart for her family, friends and neighbors, and was a devoted mother to her three sons, Tom, John and Trey. She had a great sense of humor, usually when relating one story or another, and always had an optimistic outlook on life.
Roz worked for Cajun Electric until her retirement in 2000. She was an accomplished writer and later penned numerous articles for City Social Magazine, interviewing actors, musicians, professional athletes and politicians over her career. She was also an avid reader of mysteries, particularly Agatha Christie, and loved to cook Louisiana specialties, including her world-famous BBQ shrimp. Even when you were full, she always suggested you have a little more, which was never enough! Roz was a parishioner of St. George Catholic Church and served on the church’s Bereavement Committee.
Her home was always a crossroads for the comings and goings of her extended family, whether for holidays, vacations or just an afternoon of pie and coffee. It was also a hub for the family’s traditional holiday fig-cookie baking events – a tradition that began with her grandmother. She loved to garden and decorate her home, which was always an oasis of flowers and shrubs each season. Roz also enjoyed her monthly Pokeno club get-togethers with plenty of food and fun with her group.
Roz was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Tuminello; her sister, Suzanne Tridico Pauli; and parents Juanita and Louis Tridico.
She is survived by her sons, Tom Wax, Jr. of Baton Rouge; John Wax and wife Robbyn Wax of Gonzales, Louisiana; and Trey Wax of Baton Rouge. A sister, Louvita Walters and her husband, Manuel Walters, also of Baton Rouge; and a brother, Louis Tridico and wife Debra Tridico, of Grapevine, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Drive, Baton Rouge, on Saturday, July 10, 2021, from 10:45 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon, with interment at St. George Mausoleum.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the medical team at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center for their compassionate and attentive care.
