After functioning fairly well for a couple years with mild dementia, Rosalie recently progressed to a stage that was hard for those who loved her to witness. At 93, she died peacefully on September 24th, 2024. While we rejoice that she is free of that agony, we will miss her - each in our own way, cherishing the good memories that are individually and collectively special. A Baton Rouge native and grandchild of proud Sicilian immigrants, she worked alongside her parents, Anthony Viverata and Feni Dimattia Viverata, who owned, with her dad’s two brothers, Fairfield’s Cleaners. After graduating from Baton Rouge High she married Philip J. Marino. She traded in work at the cleaners for full time motherhood after two of their four daughters were born. Once the girls were all in school, Rosalie reentered the workforce as a real estate professional - a role in which she truly flourished. She retired at 83 only when technology bested her. Could she have mastered the new MLS on the computer, texting, and digital camera usage, she would have worked until she could no longer drive clients around. She was a beauty in her time and always dressed impeccably. A devout Catholic, her faith carried her through many upsets. Married 68 years until PJ’s death in 2018, she had four daughters: Rosanna Marino (Dwain Sutherland), Marilyn Marino, Gina Tollefson (Richard), and Phyllis Marino. Ma-Ma’s grandchildren are: Dr. Rachel Scott, Sam Cappo, Claudia Cappo, Katherine Stewart Lawrence (Hunter), Anthony Willhide, Kristina Wiggins ( fiancé Jay Lowrance), Skye Tollefson (fiancé André Ledet), and Dakota Tollefson (fiancé Madison Holmes). Great-grandchildren include: Isabella Wiggins, Jameson Lowrance, Dylan and Zoe Scott, Ava Cappo, Landon Lawrence, Mana and Mala Willhide. Rosalie is predeceased by siblings Dominic and Vince Viverata and Ida V. Roppolo, and survived by sister Antoinette Zerangue, several cousins, nieces, and nephews. We owe a sincere debt of gratitude to the women who were companions and caregivers to mom, especially Peggy, Demetria, Keri and Tawanda; the caregivers at the Guest House Care Center; and to Steve and Gloria, mom’s hairdressers, who made her feel so special. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Missionaries of Charity at St. Agnes Church or Wheels to Succeed. Visitation is Saturday, Sept. 28, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church from 9:00 -10:00 am with Mass to follow; internment at Resthaven Cemetery. Sam Cappo, Dylan Scott, Dakota Tollefson, Dwain Sutherland, Richard Tollefson, and Chris Viverata will serve as pall bearers; Joseph Zerangue as an honorary pallbearer.
