Ronald Shelton Volentine, a loving father and grandfather and long-time resident of Baton Rouge, and most recently Sun, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2017.
He graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1960, then went to work for his uncle's construction company, and later Ethyl Corporation in Baton Rouge where he spent 20 years. He finished his career with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries and Livingston Parish Parks and Recreation, retiring in 2007.
Ron is survived by his children, Ronald L. Volentine, Octavia Pique and husband Darius, Pamela Rushing and husband Wayne, Connie McDaniel and husband Wilbur, Lisa McCaleb and husband Theodore; his brothers, Michael Volentine and Harvey Volentine; his grandchildren, Brandon Walker, Erin Newman, Emily Ornelas, Sarah Neathery, Roxanne Denton, Elizabeth McDaniel, Dakota Pique and Caleb Pique; his great grandchildren, Jason Bailey, Savannah Walker, Alexis Bailey, Kaitlyn Walker, Ethan Walker; and his great-great granddaughter, Kylie Walker.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, April 10, from 12:00 until services at 2:00. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The American Cancer Society in the name of Ronald Shelton Volentine.
Ron's family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the caring and loving staff on the sixth floor, GISSU, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans.
