Ronald W. “Ron” Morgan
Absent from the body present with the Lord. Ron loved his family, friends and the Lord. He died peacefully with Rebecca, his Beck, at his side on October 26, 2018, after many years of cancer. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Ron was born on August 21, 1941, to the late Thomas Morgan and the late Ethel Morgan.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rebecca Morgan; daughter, Robin Wooten and husband Chris; son, Mark Morgan and wife Jennifer; granddaughter, Isabel; grandson, Connor; brother, Michael Morgan and wife Glenda; sisters, Terry Johnson and husband Ellis, Tommye Hite, and Carolyn Gorenflo and husband Ike; and many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Central High School and Southeastern Louisiana University.
Ron retired from the Tangipahoa Assessors Office. He owned and operated Western Auto in Ponchatoula for 22 years. He registered and coached youth in Little League Baseball and Football. Ron was Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Ponchatoula and the Chamber of Commerce in Ponchatoula. He was First Commissioner of Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival serving as Strawberry King and Grand Marshall. He was a member of the Ponchatoula Volunteer Fire Department. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula for 50 years.
A graveside service was held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at 11:00am at First Baptist Church in Ponchatoula with Dr. David Cranford and Brother Leon Dunn officiating.
