Ronald Alvin Eckert was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son, and uncle. He passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, October 22, 2021. He was born on August 16, 1939, to Philip A. Eckert and Elizabeth “Betty” Bruce in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He graduated from Catholic High School; then joined the United States Army where he was a Specialist First Class. Afterwards he attended Southeastern Louisiana, where he met and married his wife of 53-years, Nora Lee Lovas. He retired from the United States Post Office. Ronald enjoyed football, especially LSU and most recently he introduced his grandsons to the Indianapolis 500. He loved hiking the Appalachian Trails, golfing, running races, reading, and his annual Manresa retreat. He especially loved his new addition to the family, his great-grandson, Brooks Fasullo.
He is survived by his daughters, Erin Eckert McLean and husband, Don, Wendy Eckert Gremillion and family friend, Eddie Rinaudo; grandchildren: Patrick, Daniel, Ian McLean, Gabrielle Fasullo and husband, Nathan, Creighton Gremillion; great-grandson, Brooks Fasullo; brother, Philip B. Eckert, Jr. and wife Prados; brother-in-law, Larry Lovas and wife Darlene; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Lovas Eckert; his father, Philip A. Eckert; mother, Elizabeth Bruce; and granddaughter, Jessica Eckert-Major.

Visitation will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic High School or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
