Robin Glen Holmes passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the age of 69. He was born on December 10, 1953, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Robert Glen Holmes and Joyce Mosher. He stayed in Baton Rouge throughout his early life, with frequent visits to all his relatives in Franklinton, Louisiana, where both of his parents were born. He graduated from Tara High School in 1971, and soon after joined the United States Air Force.
After his time in the Air Force, he worked as a deckhand on numerous survey boats in Louisiana, and on a long-distance oil tanker. He also drove a tanker truck across South Louisiana for a while.
Robin met his wife, Lynda, in 1977, in Baton Rouge. They got married in New Orleans on June 3, 1978, and moved to Livingston Parish a year later. There they raised two boys, Chris and Josh. Robin began working at Vulcan Chemicals in 1979. He was a member of the OCAW Union most of his years at the plant, working for Vulcan/Oxy Chem for close to 35 years.
During those years he kept himself very busy outside of work. He was a volunteer baseball coach in the Livingston league. He also worked as an umpire in the Dixie Youth League. Robin was a Scout Leader in the BSA Cub Scout Pack 80 in Livingston. In 1996, Robin and family moved to Denham Springs. There he became active in the First United Methodist Church. Though raised Southern Baptist, he found FUMC was a good fit.
Robin in his early and middle years was an outdoorsman. He loved canoeing, hiking, and camping. He was always an avid reader, and an ace on computers. He loved dogs and children of all ages, and they all seemed to love him back! His favorite in his last years was his Grand-dog, Sadhbh. Robin had a “Bucket List”, and managed to check off many of those wishes over the years. To all of those who helped him with those achievements go much love and gratitude.
Robin was preceded in death by his father, Robert Glen Holmes, and his oldest son, Christopher Robin Sherlock Holmes. He is survived by his mother, Joyce Mosher Roubique; his wife of 45 years, Lynda Leigh Weber Holmes; his son, Joshua Jackson Mycroft Holmes; his granddaughter, Destiny Raines Holmes; his brother, Warren Eugene Holmes and wife, Celie; and his sister, Alison Leigh Holmes. Robin is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, and their children that meant so much to him.
The family wants to give a special thanks to Pastor Dickie Davis, and good friend, Glenn Colleps for honoring Robin with a special service.
