R. Stephen Richardson, Jr. passed away surrounded by his loved ones on September 17, 2022 at the age of 56 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 17, 1966, in Baton Rouge, La., he graduated from Catholic High school in 1984 and then from Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree in Arts & Sciences. Stephen was a proud member of the Theta XI fraternity order.
Stephen worked in the Health Care industry for over 30 years. He was the Owner/Founder of Regions Behavioral Health Hospital and Regions Behavioral Health Outpatient facilities.
Adored by his patients and colleagues alike, his passion for helping people was what was most important to him. He viewed his business as a loving home and family for all.
He cherished his time away from work with his loving wife Sharon of 22 years whom he adored. They made many fond memories with trips to the beach to Perdido Key, cooking, and entertaining. Annual Blue Angles trips to Perdido Key, Florida with his lifetime friends. He especially loved and enjoyed his baby girl (shitzu)Zoe! Stephen was a beautiful soul that will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Duplechain Richardson, Mother, Sally Toups Morgan, Stepmother, Pam Richardson, Brother Patrick Richardson (Michelle; Bryson Connor & Landon), Stepsister Tracy Babin(Chris; Alex and Aiden); Stepbrother Adam Hoover (Kalyn; Owen); Uncle Forest (Woody) Richardson, Uncle Samuel (Sammy) Richardson; Uncle Jean Toups & Aunt Brenda Toups; Sister-in-law, Janice Guillory (Landris).
He is preceded in death by his father Robert (Bob) Richardson, stepfather John Morgan, mother-in-law, Rella Brunet Duplechain, maternal grandparents Felix and Iona Toups, paternal Grandparents, Worthy and Doris Jean Richardson & Uncle Jimmy Richardson.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to The Crossing at Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for the compassion and help that they have shown.
Family & Friends are invited to the visitation at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816 on Friday, 9/23/22 from 5:00 pm -8:00 pm. Visitation will continue Saturday 9/24/22 from 9:00-10:45 am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church located at 2025 Stuart Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70808 with Mass starting at 11:00am. A Celebration of life will be held following the mass at Regions Behavioral Health Hospital 720 Connell’s Park, Baton Rouge, La. 70809.
