On Saturday, May 10, 2008, Robert Wise III was called to be with his Lord and his sister, Bonnie, in heaven. Robert was educated in the East Baton Rouge Parish school system, graduating from Woodlawn High School. He then went to school at the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated with a degree in elementary education. Robert taught first-grade education in the New Orleans public school system for 22 years before moving to Baton Rouge. The first-graders were particularly fond of Mr. Robert. At the same time, he also worked at Dillard's previously Maison Blanche and D.H. Holmes for more than 30 years. He had many friends among his co-workers in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. During his formative years, he was very active in Boy Scouts and actually started in Cub Scouts and worked his way up to Scout Master, achieving Eagle Scouts along the way. Survived by his mother, Evon Wise; son, Robert Wise IV; brother, Bill Wise; sister, Betsy Wise; granddaughter, Kayla Wise; nephews, Lucas Wise and Matthew Wise; grandniece, Bailey Wise; aunts, Leah Bonnecaze and Bettie Brookover; and numerous cousins. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home chapel, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, May 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
