Robert Merritt

April 30, 1930 — June 3, 2012

A native of Meridian, MS and resident of Slidell, LA., died on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, LA, at the age of 82. A retired teacher from Slidell High School and coowner of Driving Academy of Slidell. An Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, joined the Army after the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant. He received a BS degree in Biology and Masters degree in Traffic Safety from the University of Southern Mississippi. Survived by his wife, Anna Merle Merritt sisterinlaw, Carolyn Leggett Lang four sisters: Sally Robertson Brown, Virginia Merritt Williams, Myra Merritt Mabry, and Beckie Robertson Berry and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church in Meridian, MS and a celebration of his life will be held in Atlanta, GA.
