Robert Hall

June 10, 1932 — April 2, 2017

Robert "Bob" Hall, of Baton Rouge, LA passed away peacefully on April 2, 2017 after a typical day that included breakfast at his favorite spot and an afternoon visit from his daughter. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend, Lois Grimes Hall, who died in 2010 after battling Alzheimer's. The family is comforted by the sure knowledge that they are celebrating their togetherness again.

Survivors include three children: son William Karl Hall of North Haven, CT, daughter Deborah Anderson Thomas and her husband Oliver of Baton Rouge, daughter Karen Arendt and her husband Harry, of South Windsor, CT, five grandchildren: Gregory Scott Anderson, Jr., Robert Miguel Arendt, Jeffrey Miles Anderson, Elena Marie Arendt and Brian Douglas Anderson, step grandson Oliver Thomas III and wife Brandy, step great grandson Oliver Thomas IV, brother and sister-in-law Carl and Betty Hall of Loveland, CO, sister-in-law Margaret Grimes of Naugatuck, CT, and former son-in-law Gregory Scott Anderson, Sr. of Baton Rouge.

Bob graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1954 with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and remained an ardent "Huskies" fan throughout his life. He was grateful for the Army ROTC program that supported his education and for his service in the Army Chemical Corps, which he believed paved the way for his long, happy career with Uniroyal Chemical Company. This career involved moves to Louisiana, Ohio and back to Connecticut, where he retired as factory manager of the Naugatuck plant. Bob and Lois were able to travel and enjoy several wonderful years of retirement living in Sun City Center, FL until Lois' illness brought them back to CT in 2007. Bob moved back to Baton Rouge in 2011. Everywhere they lived, Bob and Lois made good friends and participated in their community. One of their favorite experiences was their time spent as CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) sponsors at St. Thomas More in Baton Rouge. Bob served as United Way Chairman for the central Connecticut area and as a volunteer ambulance driver in Sun City Center. And whenever he saw a need in his family, in his circle of acquaintances, or in the larger community, Bob was quick to help in any way possible. One of his trademark habits was to send cards - for every occasion that arose. His kind and gentle spirit, his generosity and his sense of humor endeared him to all who encountered him. He lived a simple life, caring deeply for his family and friends. The loss of his wife left a deep sadness, but his faith, family and friends were not only a comfort but a joy to him.

Services for Bob will be held Saturday, April 8 at St. Aloysius Church. Visiting will begin at 9:00, followed by Mass at 10:00. The family is planning a service and burial in Connecticut at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bishop's Annual Appeal, Baton Rouge or Alzheimer's Association.

Family and friends may sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.
