Robert F. Gallagher, son of the late Frederick C. and Mary P. Gallagher died January 29, 2021. He was born on July 25th, 1932 in Oil City, PA. He married Helen J. Popowski, his wife of nearly 62 years on July 9, 1955 in Kane, PA. He was a Korean War Veteran and retired from Stackpole Carbon Co. in St. Mary's PA as Senior Sales Engineer after 44 years of service. Eleven of those years were in Baton Rouge. In 1994, he and Helen moved back to Baton Rouge for retirement. He enjoyed building houses for Habitat for Humanity. He and Helen traveled extensively for pleasure throughout Europe and the United States with many trips to New York City to enjoy numerous Broadway shows. One of his goals in life was to equip his children with the knowledge, skills, and determination that a college education could provide. He worked hard to accomplish this through being a tireless provider for his family. Bob was a kind, compassionate man who exhibited devout faithfulness to his family and God. Surviving are his two daughters, Susan M. Cary (Curtis) of Baton Rouge, Joan E. Gallagher (Kris) of Portland, OR, and his two sons, Robert E. of Madison, AL and Edward A. (Allene) of Baton Rouge. He had seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to Charo Rogers, Nicole Reed, Ramona Matthews, and Bridgeway Hospice for their outstanding service and compassionate care. Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. Baton Rouge, LA 70816 on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. George Catholic Church, at 11:00 AM, where he was a member.
