Robert Forester

God would not have covered most of the Earth with water if he did not want me to fish it. Robert Kirby Forester, at the age of 74, has gone fishing. Robert loved the water so much he was actually almost born on Bayou Lafouche, crossing the canal to get to the hospital. He worked for 23 years with the Baton Rouge Police Department and retired as a sergeant in the Uniform Patrol Division.

He is survived by his wife Stacey Fugler Forester married for 38 years, stepson John Charles “J.C.” and wife Brigette, granddaughters Morgan and Harper Fresina, daughters Jennifer Forester, Jackie Jones (Kevin Ray), mother of his children Bettye Forester, grandchildren Jessica Headrick (Brandon), Taeler Monk, Caleb Hatten, Brett Jones and girlfriend Meghan Kurz, Ryan Jones and fiancé DeLana McCartney, Keri Jones and fiancé Caleb McClelland, and Adam Jones, 6 great grandchildren, Godchild Taylor Whitworth, and several nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Peggy Landry, Sharon Whitworth and Judy Fugler, brother-in-law Adrian Fugler.

Robert is preceded in death by his father John Kirby Forester, mother Dorothy “Dot” Stanton Fisher, stepfather Bryon Fisher, father-in-law John “Buck” Fugler, mother-in-law Peggy Fugler, and brother-in-law “Jay” Fugler.

Celebration of life will take place at Resthaven on March 1, 2021 from 11:30 until services at 2:30. Please dress casual (LSU or fishing attire for this occasion). Pallbearers will be Brett, Ryan, and Adam Jones, Caleb Hatten, Charles “Bubba” Pate, and Jason Guercio. Honorary pallbearers will be John Stephens, David Kennedy, Caleb McClelland, Brayden Hickman, Ricky Lane Buddy Fuentes, Don Crouch, and Gary Haney.

The family would like to thank his classmates at Vidalia High School (1966) for all the love and support, where he held the 13’6” pole vault record for about 10 years.
