Robert Lloyd Eichelberger peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, November 15, 2018, at the age of 84.
He attended the University of Pennsylvania on a football scholarship. He then served his country in the Air Force before joining the IBM Corp. He retired from IBM after 32 years as a Sales Manager. Then continued working at LSU in Career Services for 7 years. He was born and raised in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania, but moved several times in his years with IBM. He came to Baton Rouge in 1967, where he has made his home since then. He was an avid tennis player, and belonged to the Bocage Racquet Club for over 30 years. He was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Eichelberger, and three daughters, Debbie Payer and husband Rick of Knoxville, Krista Andry and husband Keith, and Jill Eichelberger; his 4 grandchildren, Russ Payer and wife Tina, Allyson Payer Pfeffer and husband Mark, Collin Andry, and Cameron Andry. He is also survived by his step-daughters and their families, Steve and Karen Trantham, and their sons, Kyle and Kaden, and Matthew and Marianne Skidmore.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 1:00 pm until funeral service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Reception to follow at Bocage Racquet Club.
