Robert Cunard
Robert "Bob" Seals Cunard, Baton Rouge homebuilder and commercial real estate developer, was called home on the 20th day of July, 2015 at the age of 88.
Born in Niagara Falls, New York, graduated from Baker High School, he was attending L.S.U. when called to serve as a Military Policeman during World War II. Upon his return, Bob Cunard established his home, his family and his business in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The company, Bob Cunard Builder, constructed quality homes for families in developing areas of Baton Rouge. A former deacon at the Broadmoor Baptist Church, he had a sterling reputation throughout the community for honesty, hard work and fair dealing. He was a past president of the Home Builders' Association, a Boy Scout leader and a passionate fisherman.
Bob Cunard is survived by his wife of 68 years, Laura "Mickey" Thom Cunard, two daughters, Laura Jeanne Cunard Bell, Rebecca Cunard and her husband Scott Reis, and one son Robert Cunard, Jr., four grandchildren Jessica Cunard, Robert Cunard, III, Michael Cunard, Laura Jean Cunard Reis, her husband Michael Johnson and two great grandchildren Jacob Reis Johnson and Nicholas Reis Johnson. He is also survived by his sisters Charlotte Smith, Edith Ferdon Destrahan, Jackie Maxwell and Dianne Lee.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and John C. Cunard, brothers, Frank Cunard and Fred Cunard and sisters, Barbara Hahn and Carol Thom.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. and the funeral services at 11:00 am on Saturday July 25, 2015, at The First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
