Robert Boyet

November 21, 1943 — March 11, 2022

Robert “Bobby” Wayne Boyet, age 78, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022.

Bobby Boyet was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 21, 1943, and grew up in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana College in Pineville, and a master’s degree in Education from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux.

After a brief period teaching history at Bolton High School in Alexandria, Bobby moved to the State Department of Education as the Adult Education Specialist. His efforts in that capacity as well as his published adult education materials and teacher workshops greatly contributed to the rise of the adult literacy rate in the State of Louisiana. Bobby was considered to be one of the “founding fathers” of LAPCAE (Louisiana Association for Public, Community, and Adult Education), which prospered under his leadership. With his warmth, sense of humor, enthusiasm, and great people skills he built many long lasting friendships and professional relationships that were an essential part of his success and ability to move Adult Education in Louisiana forward.

Bobby was an involved member of the Word of Life Christian Center where for many years he faithfully served in the Prison Ministry and the Music Ministry, which were very dear to his heart. An avid golfer and a passionate LSU fan, he instilled the love of sports in his sons. Bobby’s happy place was the family “camp” on Pearl River where he enjoyed many weekends fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice Jo (Johnson) Boyet; two sons, Bryan Boyet (Anna) of Austin, TX and Bruce Boyet (Gail) of Prairieville, LA; two sisters, Sue Boyet (Manuel) of Austin, TX and Nancy “Nan” Hoover (Wayne) of Robert, LA; one brother, Kevin “Craig” Boyet; and three grandsons, Bruce Jr, Alex, and Robbie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Fosh Boyet and Dixie Day Boyet.

A Funeral Service will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge on Sunday, March 20, 2022, with Visitation from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm followed by an Informal Memorial Service from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
