Robert Bates

Robert "Bob" Bates, age 89, a resident of Zachary, La, passed away on February 9, 2017.

Bob lived a long, wonderful life full of love for his family, travel, and fishing, with a strong faith in God.

Bob is survived by his wife, Yvonne Steele Bates; his daughter, Bonnie Aicklen Johnson; his son, Roy Aicklen and wife Laurie; his brother, John Bates and wife Ella Mae; his grandchildren, Matt Aicklen and wife Lauren, John Robert Yates and wife Laura, Allison Aicklen Richard, and husband Brady, and Andy Yates and wife Lauren; his step-daughter, Tiffany Steele Waddell and her children, Haley Munn and Tommy Waddell; and his 7 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Beulah and Marvin Bates, Sr.; his brother, Marvin C. Bates, Jr.; his former wives, Lois Anderson Bates, and Irma Ramer Bates; and his son-in-law, Herman Johnson.

Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Pallbearers will be Matt Aicklen, John Robert Yates, Andy Yates, Brady Richard, Curtis Barrilleaux, and Keith Bates.
