Rita L. Guidry passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the age of 90. A native of Lake Charles and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Harrrel Guidry, Sr. Prior to marriage, Rita was an employee of Bordens in Lake Charles. She was memorialized by Lake Charles artist, Robert Bob Kleinschmidt, as one of the famous Three Sisters behind the ice cream counter of Bordens in an iconic watercolor depicting famous Lake Charles landmarks. Rita leaves behind her son George H. Junior Guidry, Jr. and his wife Carol Hernandez Guidry and her daughter Mary Guidry Spring her sister Lucille Woodman her grandchildren: Carrie Ann Magruder, Amanda Guidry Katz and her fiance Terrence Maloy, George H. Sonny Guidry, III and his wife Kelli Deaton Guidry, and Raven Spring and her three great grandchildren: Christian Katz, Savannah Katz, and Madelyn Guidry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary LeBato, her beloved brother, Anthony, and her sisters, Marie and Josie. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. The family thanks and would like to recognize Ms. Jean Jackson who provided athome care to Rita. Rita also received exceptional care from the staff at Old Jefferson Community Care Center and St. Joseph Hospice for which we are indebted. We express our sincerely gratitude to Joeann Hebert and Roslyn LeBouf at Old Jefferson and Penny Perkins with St. Joseph. Chaplain Wells with St. Joseph Hospice will conduct the memorial service. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Joseph Hospice.
