Richard Shaffett

A retired employee with Ormet Corp., Gonzales, he died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at his home. He was 87 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, June 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting in the funeral home chapel on Friday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Milford Walters. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife, Muriel K. Shaffett; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard L. Jr. and Anne Shaffett, of Sarasota, Fla., and Tim and Liz Shaffett, of Denham Springs; sister, Sara Sally Achord, of Hannibal, Mo.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Nora Shaffett; two brothers, O.D. and Leon Shaffett; and sister, Ruby Landry. Memorial donations may be made to Generations Hospice, 103 S.
