Richard E. Morin, age 56, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016, peacefully at his home.
Rick is survived by his daughter, Michelle and son Justin Morin; parents, Richard and Nancy Morin of Springfield, MA; sisters, Laura Allen, Jane Theberge, Sandra Morin Zanetti and brother, James Morin.
Rick served in the U.S. Navy from 1977 - 2001. He retired in Louisiana. Rick later was employed over the next 14 years with Lockheed Martin, Boeing, IFC International and CGI.
Those that knew Rick, knew that he was happiest when cooking for friends and family. Even though Rick lived in the south, he always had to have lobsters and steamers when he came up north for visits. Rick loved the sun and going to the beach. He cherished spending time with his children. He enjoyed fishing, drinking beer, and playing pool with friends. His smile and attitude were contagious. He loved telling jokes and having a good time.
The family would like to thank his very special friend, Sonya Zimmer, who he loved and enjoyed spending time with. Sonya supported him throughout his entire illness. She gave him the support and strength to fight his fight with cancer. She and her family became his family and we thank them for being there for him while his own family lived miles away.
A ceremony will take place at Resthaven, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, on Saturday, June 11; calling hours from 10-12. A Ceremony will begin at 12 followed by a Military burial. Go to www.resthavenbatonrouge.com for further information.
