Richard Timothy Mason of Baton Rouge passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012, as a result of an accident at his home. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Khent Mason and his mother, Norma Mason. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lloyd Mason. He was an employee of The Advocate for the last 13 years. Richard loved to travel. He bought a Land Rover in England, ferried it across the English Channel and drove it across Europe to Afghanistan. He sat at the border for eight hours because he refused to bribe the border guards, until they finally let him through at the end of the day. He sold the Land Rover in Afghanistan, signed on with a fishing trawler, then sailed to Japan, then Alaska, and ended up in Vancouver. This is just one example of his curiosity and his love of travel. A memorial gathering will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 from 1 pm until Memorial Service at 2 pm.
