Rev. Angus Lee Carruth, a native of Kentwood and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on February 23, 2015 at the age of 90.
While a student at LSU, he enlisted in the Army, serving from 1944 to 1946, and participated in the battle of Okinawa. After returning to LSU in 1946, he was licensed to preach by the Methodist Church, beginning a career of over 50 years of service as a Methodist minister. He completed his seminary studies at SMU Perkins School of Theology. He served nine churches in the Louisiana Conference and was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church during his retirement.
He is survived by four children and one grandson: Kathleen Carruth Wood of Baton Rouge, Angus Lee Carruth, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Sumter, SC, Paul Joseph Carruth and wife Ann, of Hammond, John David Carruth and wife, Jamie; grandson, Alex James Carruth of Baton Rouge; sister, Mary Lou Hutchinson of Baton Rouge; nephew, Joe Hutchinson and wife Wendy of Orlando, FL; Niece Lydia Hutchinson of Nashville, TN; and special friend, Betsy Sullivan of Baton Rouge.
Angus is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mittie Saint Carruth; his parents, Job Jones Carruth and Enid Lee Carruth; sister, Joe Carruth; brother-in-law, James Hutchinson; and son-in-law, Daryl Wood.
The family request that visiting hours be observed on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, from 10:00AM until service time at 12:00PM.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00PM on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, officiant will be Rev. Ken Carroll.
Entombment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
