Rena Barrow Stevens was born on February 16, 1954 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and died at her home on Monday, April 7, 2014 in Baton Rouge. She was 60, and she was an extremely talented artist known for her painting of Oak Alley Plantation. She taught art to many students over the years and was able to call many of them lifelong friends. She had many gifts, but her passion was essential oils. Whether you met Rena in a grocery store line at Whole Foods or a yoga class, her passion and love for alternative medicine and essential oils radiated from her. She graduated from Redemptorist High School and was very strong in her Catholic faith. She is survived by her two loving sons, Brandon Michael Stevens of Lexington, KY, and Jonathan Luke Stevens of Boston, MA siblings, Helen Barrow Dedon and husband Jeff, and Essie Barrow, and Gerard Barrow, all of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by her parents, Gloria Hernandez Barrow and Irvin P. Barrow and a brother, Clifton Barrow. Visiting will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue, on Wednesday, April 9, 2017 from 9:30 AM until memorial mass at 10:00 AM, conducted by Father Cleo Milano. The family would like to thank Renas many friends for all their love and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice.
